Hiya kids,

The sentiments expressed by all of you for We The Kids are really moving. As some of you have stated, the ability to express ourselves is very valuable. The earlier one learns, the better it is.
Self-articulation, as it were, is important in every interaction – be it with someone you meet just once in the street or in a shop, or with those you are going to be with all your life. It helps if one can state one’s ideas clearly. Everybody appreciates that – teachers, bosses, readers, whoever we may be addressing!
Of course, self-expression is not just in words – it is done through ideas, drawings, paintings, photographs, films, sports, academics, hobbies, et al. However, almost all these involve at one point or another, the use of words. Sportspersons, artists, dancers, musicians eventually write down their memoirs to be able to communicate to others all that they learned – to show the path they took in becoming evolved persons. One should continuously express oneself through one medium or the other when one is young. From time to time, assess what you have done – yourself and with the help of mentors. It will help you improve your technique. Once expression becomes effortless, there is no greater pleasure. And when you are grown up – what fun it will be to read what you had written years ago. Some of you may even grow up to become professional writers, and remember We The Kids as the first paper you wrote for!
Till next week, Aastha.

We The Kids

We are the kids,we are the world,
we are the point on which tomorrow is gonna whirl.
we are the next,we are the future,
we are true,soft,innocent creature.
we have the will,we have the strength,
we have the confidence which will never bend.
we have the spirit,we have the art,
we have the courage to make a new start.
we have the love,we know what is respect,
we have the wisdom of what to refuse and accept.
we have the skills,we are the possible,
we have the passion to do the impossible!
we have it all yet we don't know,
not aware of ourself,we are unable to show..
sometimes a little alone, sometimes feeling shy,
like a small bird who has feathers yet it fears to fly..
"WE THE KIDS" here offers us wings to soar high,
with our great hidden character,to fly on top of the sky!
our art, thinking, talent and our qualities it reveals,
to explore and discover our potential and let the whole world feel...
that we are the creators, the builders of tomorrow!
we are the fate! the face! the ace of tomorrow!
we are the preserver,we have to follow,
lets be together with "WE THE KIDS"....and save the tomorrow!

Time

By Shahid Ansari, Town's Inter College, Ballia
The one thing i will always want is "time".It runs so fast and i find it really difficult to hold it.The feeling that this particular moment will never come again in my life excites me.At the same time it always makes me feel nostalgic about it.We always fear of losing it.
It is such a great word also where meanings of the sentence make it a matter of concern.
"I don't have any time,i am very busy".
"You should invest your time in something productive".
We have got some time and that we are spending(just like money). Hey listen to me we spend time."Time is money".
But what is money? It is a medium of exchange between people for what they want.
So in short time is something we should spend for what we want.
So just for some time think before spending time.

Close the door, before I unholster that kiss

By Chaitali Sinha, XI, SJA
HBO just finished showing "Notting Hill" and like every romantic flick, it ended with a kiss.
Vulgar, we say. Extremely.
Yet, in this democratic and secular country, the easiest way to become a famous man is to broadcast a communist speech as "Next-gen" politician Varun Gandhi or Narendra Modi prove every other week. If a man displays affection towards his girlfriend/wife, the moral brigade may jump on him, calling it a "vile, vulgar display of passion" yet the same remain quiet when hate speeches are made. In today's Indian society and due to our mutilated culture, love in marriages and among people is an uncelebrated ritual, to the point where a hug almost evokes wolf-whistling and the celluloid romances remain merely that - celluloid. They remain larger than life, an almost ray of hope for the youth that perhaps things like love do exist. E. Segal's words that, "An argument is the true index of an interaction" rings extremely in the East for that remains the only index of interaction that has not been banned yet.
In a society where MTV sits right beside the khadi, a comparison between the East and the West is perhaps inevitable.
It is inevitable for us to ask why the wise men of our country villify love.
It is inevitable for us to ask why the wise men deny love yet accept hatred, in a supposedly 'spiritual' country.
On one hand, India runs on love when it decides to accept every tradition and religion to add a hue to it's world while on the other it's very leaders decide to reject love as a part of their policy.
Which face of India do we accept - and why?

This is the 50th issue of ‘WE THE KIDS’, I take this opportunity to congratulate the entire staff of the newspaper. After two weeks it will complete one year that too would be a big landmark.
Till now we have been reading very educative and interesting articles. I am very happy as once they made me their poster boy, and published a large photo of mine on the front page. I am very happy that I am also a part of ‘We the kids’ as many of my articles have got published; now it has become a very popular supplement among my friends too.
I also want to congratulate the members for starting the web site of this supplement so now we can read our articles online too! This supplement of Garwhal Post is very interesting and should never end. I have got to learn many new things such as about sports, cars, animals, our country, etc. I wait eagerly for Friday to come. In fact WE THE KIDS should come at least twice a week.
Some times due to pressure of studies and exams I am unable to contribute any article, and I feel bad about it.
I wish ‘We the kids’ lots of success!
