Women of 21st century want to be independent and want to achieve success through their hard and quality work. For this they even work late in the evening and at night in the office surrounded by their male counterparts some of whom are wicked and evil. They keep watching them and strike as soon as they get the opportunity. Teenagers and women in their early twenties are in grave danger as crime against them is rising with every passing day. I wonder what has gone wrong in the country of queen Karnawati of Chittor who sent rakhi to Mughal emperor Humayun of Agra to save her kingdom from Bahadur Shah of Gujarat.
The Mughal emperor despite being a muslim tied it on his wrist understanding the importance of rakhi filled with love and honor and at once set out with his army to save his sister queen Karnawati but was a bit late as she and thousands of other women had committed ‘jauhar’ to safeguard their honour. Bahadur Shah ran away on hearing the arrival of emperor Humayun. Emperor Humayun was so grieved that he took up the burning ashes of sister Karnwati in his hand and cried that he could not save her. Later he defeated Bahadur Shah who had to run to save his life.God knows what’s wrong with the real brothers, let alone the social ones. They don’t realize that emperor Humayun was not a real brother of queen Karnawati, still he went to protect her honour. The latest case of Anshu Nautiyal’s murder has again raised fingers on security of women and girls in Dehradun. Cases of molestation and rape are on the rise in Uttrakhand and the situation is same throughout the country. TV journalist Saumya Vishwanathan was shot dead in Vasant Kunj when she was returning to her home in Sector-C of Vasant Kunj in Delhi. Jigyasa Ghosh a call centre employee too was murdered in Delhi known as the crime capital of India. The motive behind Jigyasa’s murder was robbery as her ATM and credit card were used by the culprits. I want to appeal to women from different age groups to carry chilli powder and a Swiss army pen knife to protect themselves from hooligans, robbers and criminals.
I would also like to appeal teenage and girls in their early twenties to carry the above mentioned things and always try to walk in groups of 5-7 so that such people don’t get their way so easily. Also they must share their doubts about suspected guys with their family and friends so that they can help them whenever required.
Teenagers and girls in their early twenties flash their skin trying to look modern but this modern behavior of theirs is the major cause of hooligans targeting them. They are attracted by their skin show and become lusty and so they target them and start harassing them. It all starts with a watch by greedy and wicked eyes which keep looking girls from day to day and finally one day when they get the opportunity they try to take full advantage resulting in physical harassment, assault, gang rape and murder at times. Women and girls should remain alert about suspects and must instantly call their parents and friends and police when in trouble so that instant action can be taken against the evil guys and a stern lesson can be taught to them. I’m concerned for safety of my mother and my sister as they too are among the womenfolk. I would like to call upon all sons, grandsons, nephews and brothers real or cousins to come forward to help their mothers, grandmothers, aunts, nieces and sisters. If all of them pledge to protect the honor of their mothers, grandmothers and sisters i’m sure those hooligans, robbers and criminals would think thrice to carry out with their evil plans.
As far as safety of teenagers and young women is concerned I would advice them to get enrolled in martial art classes. Learning some judo and karate tactics would boost their moral confidence and at the same time would provide them self defense. Another option is kickboxing as it teaches you to use kicks and punches in tandem whenever required. As for women in their thirties and forties, they should move in a group of 4-5 so they can not be targeted that easily. Also they should stay in contact with their husbands and sons through mobile phones so that they can come to their rescue or at least ensure that they are safe.
Older women should not wear costly ornaments and must avoid carrying cash as thieves are on the lookout for such women so they can snatch their cash and ornaments and run away. One last advice I would like to give to all girls and women is that try to identify as many things about these thieves, eve teasers and criminals like features of their face, their clothes and shoes. And if the miscreants are on bike or in a car then just note down their number plates and the model of bike or car, its color and company logo. These things would help identify and catch the culprits faster. And you girls and young women please carry chilli powder or spray and that Swiss army pen knife to give a befitting reply to those who carry an evil eye for you. Good luck and take care.
