The Lacerated Soul

Cadet Anshul Roy (XI) (RIMC)
Nature is omnipotent. It can seep into the very soul of an individual, healing him of all aberrations. Such was the case with me during a month long Kashmir sojourn while undergoing a Basic Mountaineering Course at Pahalgam. Having been moved by the all pervading beauty which had strong undercurrents of lurking danger, the poet in me was compelled to pen these lines in a tribute to the irony which is Kashmir.
Heaven So serene And yet, Such restlessness.
The wind So cold But glowing with Lambent energy.
The snow White, surrounded by Dark hues Of verdant foliage.
The people... Nice, so fine Marred by violence. Kashmir
Beautiful Withering, with Blood Spilled all over.
Heaven.
