Aastha.

Picnics are an intrinsic part of childhood. Even when we grow up, we love picnics because they take us back to the carefree days of childhood. It is important, therefore, to store up as many joyful memories as possible when we have the chance. Unbelievable, but even the hardships – ant bites, sand in the sandwiches, the heat, the cold or interfering rain, hard treks, pebbles in the shoes - seem wonderful fun when recalled some years later.
We are lucky to live in a city and state that are full off picnic spots. One needs only to head out a couple of kilometres in any direction to find some wonderful place by a stream to picnic in. Of course, many of the popular sites have been spoiled by over exploitation, pollution, etc. Even so, nature remains ever so close in Uttarakhand and Doon. As young people we must learn to care for this great bounty and take the initiative to preserve it in its pristine beauty so that it can be enjoyed all our lives.
Next week we will discuss TV soaps, reality shows and cartoon channels. These have been much in the news, recently, and let’s hear your opinions, too.
Ciao,
